Another huge week with conference title implications

Merchant Marine at Coast Guard, Noon, ESPN 3

I can’t tell you a whole lot about the schemes or players involved here, but I can recommend this nonetheless as one of the best rivalries at the DIII level, to the point where these two played the only DIII football game a season ago – a 24-14 win for Merchant Marine, the traditional power.

With Merchant Marine entering with a 7-1 record at No. 10 in the DIII and Coast Guard at just 2-7, this is looking like another win for the Marines in the Secretaries Cup. But, the appeal here is the atmosphere and the rivalry at large. It’s a small-scale Army-Navy, and it’s a whole lot of fun to watch. I’d give it a look, even if just on the second screen.
